The Indian Skipper (Hesperia sassacus) is a northern NJ species of grass skipper with beautiful orange-gold coloration, warm yellow markings on the ventral hindwing, and contrasting gray fringe along both wing edges.

Some Sachems can look very similar in appearance as they are quite variable, but to me Indian Skipper females have more of a bold warm orange color overall impression where Sachem females have almost white wing markings on most individuals. I only managed one dorsal set of images of this female, but she is quite different from a female sachem on the upper side.
