Sleepy Duskywing

The Sleepy Duskywing (Erynnis brizo) is a medium brown duskywing with no dots on the forewings and a fairly subtle marking pattern when compared with the similar Dreamy Duskywing.

Fresh individuals can have bolder markings including the double-zigzag bands on the dorsal side forewings, though the frosting between these bands is generally not as pronounced as Dreamy Duskywings.

This individual was in an area known for Sleepy Duskwings but the markings certainly are very bold. The light-colored frosting between the two zigzag bands does appear close to the leading edge of the forewings, instead of near the center of the forewing as in Dreamy. Duskywings can be quite a challenge!!
